5 Super Foods good for your eyes
Incorporating these outstanding foods in your diet may keep your eyes healthy and can improve your eye vision.
1. Carrots:
The list would not outright without the carrots! Do you love carrots? Oh, of course you're not rabbit!
Carrots are a rich source of beta-carotene, an antioxidant carotenoid that your body converts to vitamin A, which is essential for good vision.
Vitamin A enables opsin proteins to form in "cone cells" to process light in daytime and rhodopsin protein to form in "rod cells" to process light in dim.
2. Fish:
Salmon fish is blessing for your eyes. Since, salmon and other fish too, have omega 3 fatty acid. These are healthy and essential fatty acids which contains Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA).
Omega-3 fatty acids:
• Reduce the risk of dry eyes
• Maintain health of the retina
• Protection against cataracts
According to studies, the people who ate oily fish at least once per week had half the risk of macular degeneration, compared with those who ate fish less than once per week.
3. Nut, Seeds & Legumes:
The flaxseeds, flaxseed oil, walnuts, almonds, nuts, and legumes are rich in omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin E, which is essential for retina. They also improve brain function, which indirectly help in better vision. These legumes also contain zinc, an essential mineral which help protect your eyes from the damaging effects of light.
4. Leafy vegetables:
Adding leafy green vegetables in your diet such as turnip greens, romaine lettuce and spinach, are turned out good for eyesight. Greens contain cartenoids such as lutein and zeaxanthin, which promote vision and the health of the retina.
